This review is long time in the coming, and that’s my fault.
You may not have noticed, but the “cleaning” aisle of your local grocerier has been expanding. It is being invaded by new “clean” products. These products are void of traditional cleaning agents such as ammonia, alcohol, phosphates, or petrochemicals and the earth, as a result, is said to be happier and more perfect. All promises of a perfect earth aside, consumers should welcome these new products. They clean well, and don’t give off a chemical smell or residue.
Weiman has been offering cleaning products for your entire home since 1941. Their products are offered in almost every major store in the country. Now in 2008, Weiman is moving “green” and offering a new line called “Perfect Planet.” Kayleigh over at Weiman Products sent us a box of their new “perfect planet” product line of natural cleaners.
Today we will review the one we use the most, the All Natural All Purpose Cleaner.
I do a lot of all purpose cleaning, We have our place on the market so most of our cleaning involves busily running through the house with a paper towel and whatever cleaner I can because the buyers are showing up in a half hour. I call this type of cleaning “SHTF Cleaning” and I do a lot of it. “All Purpose” cleaners are made for this. So, over the course of a month I used the Perfect Planet, how’d it do?
This is a solid SHTF cleaner. I use it on wood, plastic, granite, and tile and it makes it look shiny and clean.. problem is… it doesn’t stay that way for very long. With other SHTF cleaners that I’ve reviewed or used, the “clean” seems to stay a bit longer. In addition, in the event I find myself tackling a little tougher of a job, the perfect planet doesn’t have the umpf to step up and clean it. I end up going back to one of my other products.
The good news is that the clean does seem to be void of a chemical feel and i appreciate what that means for my home, family, and the environment. But it seems to “wash” more than it “cleans.” which is fine, but if i’m cleaning, I want a little more.
I’m not sure what this product will retail for, but assuming that this is a moderately priced product I could recommend it with 2 gears, one for environmental benefit and value. The design of this product (including its packaging) doesn’t offer much and the cleaner doesn’t seem to clean for good, there is little innovation in the product (as i said “natural” cleaners are all the rage). I feel that if Weiman offers this at a below market price (for natural cleaners) it could be adopted and popular by the market, which would earn it another star.
RATING: 2 out of 5 Gears for Value and Variable Eco Benefit
