Nellie’s All-Natural Laundry Nuggets Review

Nellie's All-Natural Lanudry Nuggets

The other day I was roaming our local green store, Generation Green, and stumbled upon Nellie’s Nuggets.  These are individual use dry laundry detergent nuggets that you simply throw into the washer.  Avid readers of Green Gear will remember that Mrs. Green Gear and I use a similar product called Dropps.

The main difference between Dropps and Nellie’s Nuggets is that fact that Nellie’s are not “concentrated” they’re dry.  You know, DRY, like the dry detergent your mom used to use.  Remember the scoop?  yeah, me too.

Both Nellies and Dropps come in similar recycleable containers.  One advantage is that the Nellies has 36 included loads… both are similar in price with a slight advantage to Nellie’s.  The “green” advantage to da Nuggets comes from the fact that they aren’t watered down.  This means that they aren’t shipped out so all that weight and associated CO2 pollution are saved.  If you add it up over time, that’s no small amount of savings.

So how does it work?  I’ve got to say it works pretty well.  These are great for lazy people like me who just want to throw a nugget in and get as far away from the Mr. Laundry as possible.  It gets the dirt out and clothes are soft and clean, what more do you want?  If you have particular questions go ahead and ask them in the comments section, Mrs. Green Gear or I will chime back with an answer.

In the video we do a comparison between Nellie’s and Dropps… See for yourself!

I get that you’re not a fan of the scoop method of measuring detergent. I’d be willing to lend you a scoop or two of Charlie’s Soap to review. We use it to wash baby’s cloth diapers (and the rest of our clothing which, presumably, does not get quite as dirty…), and it works brilliantly. Comes in a paper package, also.

No, I have no problem with scoops. Though the ease of use in packets like these are useful to a laundry novice such as myself. I’d be happy to review anything!
